“Ever since Josh married Amy, he started acting like her, just sick,” sister Regina Hall said. “We’re really sad this happened but we aren’t shocked. My mom and dad won’t even talk to them when they’re on drugs. They can’t come over.”
From the outside looking in, Joshua and Amy Hall were the perfect couple. He’s a handsome former service member and she’s going to school to become a nurse. But, if you peel back that surface veneer of normalcy, things are not what they seem.
According to family members, the couple has been using hardcore drugs for a couple of years now and their behavior has gone from bad to worse. When they moved out of their trashed apartment a few months ago, they left something behind…
And that something was Rico, their 2-year-old lab mix.
Here’s the story from the Register-Herald:
A Raleigh County couple, Joshua and Amy Hall, were charged with animal cruelty after deputies found their dog abandoned and near death.
According to a news release from the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a vacant residence on Blue Jay Six Road in Cool Ridge where they found the dog in a starving state.
The Halls had left the dog at the residence that they had vacated weeks earlier and deputies said it survived only by eating diapers and garbage.
The animal was transported to the Raleigh County Humane Society and the Halls were transported to the Southern Regional Jail.
Here’s more from WOAY:
According to the investigation the dog was starving and near death. The dog was able to survive as long as it did by eating dirty diapers, trash, and pieces of leather from a sofa that was left in the residence.
Raleigh County Animal Control responded to the residence located on Blue Jay Six Road in Cool Ridge and took the dog to the Raleigh County Humane Society. He dog is being treated for malnourishment and internal injuries sustained from eating garbage.
The Raleigh County Humane Society thinks the dog has a good chance of surviving, but will have a long road of recovery ahead of him.
After being arrested Joshua and Amy Hall were transported to the Southern Regional Jail and were later arraigned. They have not posted bond at this time.
Will you say a prayer for Rico?
