The internet is full of beautiful pictures that provide inspiration for people all over the world.
But it’s easy to forget the amount of hard work, good luck, digital wizardry and skill that goes into creating a perfect photograph. It’s only when you try to recreate one for yourself do you realize that, well, it isn’t quite as easy as it seems.
Take a look at these baby photoshoots we’ve compiled for example.
They look so simple, right? What could be so difficult about getting a nice picture of your newborn kid lying on a fur rug or sleeping in a bowl of gum balls? Well, everything actually!
“You wouldn’t believe how hard it is to properly photograph young children,” said professional photographer Winona Singer. “Not only is it difficult to pose them and keep them relatively still, but to manage the props and get that perfect facial expression is a real challenge. It’s probably the most difficult part of my job.”
And that’s to say nothing of the poopy messes, throw up, tears, tantrums, and unhinged parents.
“The parents can actually be a whole separate issue. A lot of times they are just as worse as the kids,” added Singer.
In the grand spirit of expectation versus reality, we’ve assembled quite an assortment of photos for your viewing pleasure.
At first, we present the idealized version of the photograph. The children are smiling and dressed to the nines, the background and pose are picture perfect, and the lighting is professional.
In the second set, we’ve got a more realistic depiction of reality. Whereas children are concerned, all bets are off and these shots wholeheartedly demonstrate that.
So without further ado, here’s our top ten list of baby photoshoot fails…
